Hibiscus & Orange Ice-Tea Poles
HIBISCUS AND ORANGE ICE-TEA POLES
Keeping the kids hydrated over the summer months can sometimes be tricky. Icy poles are always a favourite in our household, but we find the packaged versions are often filled with sugar or other additives and offer minimal health benefits for our kids. We also find that so many kids really enjoy herbal tea and so we thought we would combine the two and came up with this easy ice-tea pole recipe, that is guaranteed to satisfy the little ones on a hot day.
DIRECT SOURCING AND THE FAIR TRADE CONCEPT
Direct sourcing and the fair trade concept
There is often a lot of questions raised around fair trade practice. Where the fair trade money goes and who the people are that actually benefit when we purchase fair trade products?
These are all relevant questions.
In the beginning, we too asked the same questions, to be honest, with a little bit of a cynical leaning towards the fair trade concept. We found it hard to trust organisations and companies when we’d hear the bad stories of greenwashing or false claims of effective and meaningful impact just to try and market an ethical business model.
Turmeric… the golden spice
Turmeric… the golden spice
Curcuma longa, more commonly known as Turmeric, has a long history of medicinal use, dating back thousands of years. In Southeast Asia, Turmeric is not only used as a spice but also as flavouring, dye and a component in religious ceremonies. Because of its amazing yellow colour, Turmeric is also known as “Indian saffron.” Although Ayurvedic medicine has long been using Turmeric, modern medicine has only recently begun to recognize its many unique health benefits, and to fully appreciate the extent of its healing potential.

Healthy and Happy Skin
A WORD FROM EMMA ON HEALTHY + HAPPY SKIN
The skin is the largest organ of the body and takes on the huge role of filtering toxins and protecting your insides from the environment every day. Many people invest large amounts of money and time in trying to find the perfect topical fix, to correct blemishes, moisturise the skin, dry out oily skin, reduce redness, reduce breakouts and perfect their overall appearance. A great deal of time goes into morning regimes and then more effort at night to cleanse and remove the make up from the day.
We wish you a wonderful Christmas full of laughter and cheer, great food and many special moments.

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL STANCE ON PACKAGING

We don’t use any of these elements in our packaging, and this article helps to further explain our stance on environment focused packaging.

Going Caffeine Free
GOING CAFFEINE FREE
Coffee and tea are two of the world’s beverages of choice, and while many people understand that coffee contains caffeine and it is consumed for its stimulatory effects, it’s important to note that tea also contains caffeine.
The caffeine component found in the camellia sinensis plant contains varying degrees of caffeine, depending on how and when the plant is harvested and processed. Dependent on the growing techniques and treatments that the tea leaves undergo, they are then classified as white tea, green tea, yellow tea, oolong tea, black tea or matcha tea, all of which are caffeinated but to varying levels.
Vanilla – a worldwide shortage
VANILLA – A WORLD WIDE SHORTAGE
Not only is it the second most expensive spice in the world, it is one of the most labour intensive foods on earth.
After the flowers are pollinated by hand and the seed pods are harvested, each pod is soaked in hot water, wrapped in a woollen blanket for about 48 hours, placed in a box to sweat and are later laid out to dry in the sun. The whole process takes months to complete.

Staying naturally healthy through winter
STAYING NATURALLY HEALTHY THROUGH WINTER
Winter is almost upon us, and while it’s the perfect season to snuggle up, get cosy and drink some tea, it’s also when people are focusing the most on preventing sicknesses, such as cold and flu. At Love Tea, we’ve always placed a big focus on blends that are designed to support specific health conditions, and with these things in mind, we thought this month we’d get a better understanding of the Wellness range, developed by our naturopath Emma.

Hot tea not your thing? Try this recipe
HOT TEA NOT YOUR THING? TRY THIS RECIPE…
In many countries around the world, conventional wisdom says that a hot drink can cool you down on a hot day, so being the tea lovers that we are, we endeavoured to find out if this was fact true, or simply an old wives tale.
As it turns out, a researcher at The University of Ottawa’s School of Human Kinetics decided this was a question worth pursuing, and a study was subsequently published in 2012 on body heat storage and hot fluid ingestion. The short answer is, yes, a hot drink can cool you down, however this is mostly due to the increase in perspiration, and subsequent evaporation from the skin, which has a cooling effect.
