1% for the Planet Business Members

Did you know there is over 1,800 1% for the Planet registered business members worldwide? Each of these businesses has committed to giving 1% of their gross annual sales each year to approved environmental nonprofit partners. If we are in need of a new product for us, or the kids, we love using the 1% for the Planet directory of businesses to find someone new to support.

Here is a list of some of our favourite businesses:

Koala Eco

We have been using Koala Eco products in the home and the office for a while now. Amazingly, Koala Eco has only been around for 2 years, in this time they have left a huge imprint on the cleaning industry in Australia as well as China, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan.

They create a range of environmentally friendly products that use the full-force of nature to clean as effectively as their chemical based competitors. Many of the 100% pure Australian essential oils they use have been part of the Aboriginal pharmacopoeia for thousands of years. They are certified, cruelty free, allergy safe, non toxic and locally made.

They also recently made the switch to 100% post consumer recycled bottles that are recyclable (so no new plastic will ever be created with their products).

Zorali

Zorali was founded in coastal Victoria, the couple behind the brand create outdoor gear and apparel with a mission to, “Get the world outside,” because they believe, “time spent in nature is the pathway to a healthy and happy life.”

They are freeing the outdoor lifestyle from the push to conquer the extremes and bringing back the spirit of play. For Zorali, it isn’t about reaching the destination first, it’s about simply being outside and enjoying the journey with friends.

Their garments are created with earth-friendly materials including hemp and organic cotton, as well as recycled synthetics. These legends also plant 10 trees for every product purchased on their website.

Ettitude

Ettitude produces bedding that is better for you and better for the planet. Made from an exclusive 100% organic bamboo lyocell fabric, Ettitude’s products are highly breathable, feather-soft and sustainably and ethically made using a closed-loop system that reuses water up to 200 times.

Their mission is to use innovation to drive positive change, to co-create a world where everyone – customers, communities, the planet, and people who work in the business can flourish.

“Sustainability is at the core of everything we do, and we are careful about who we get into bed with. We make sure all our suppliers are committed to working to the highest ethical standard, guaranteeing fair wages and a comfortable working environment for employees.”

Vege Threads

We recently stumbled across Vege Threads when trying to find some lightweight basics for our summer holiday. They make a collection of clothing for everyday wear, their collections are 100% manufactured in Australia using organic and eco-friendly materials and dyes in limited numbers.

“VT embraces the shift towards slower living and aims to provide our customers with long lasting, practical yet beautifully designed garments.”

They have also gained accreditation from Ethical Clothing Australia.

Sunbutter

Sunbutter manufacture and sell Sunblock and Surf zincs using all natural ingredients. Did you know that many regular sunscreens are actually harmful to the world’s reefs? Sun Butter has created a sunscreen made with non-nano particle zinc oxide, meaning the product protects your skin without compromising the ocean’s health.

“We are a company started by marine biologists, surfers, naturalists and conservationists with the aim to make it easier for everyday people to remove a stressor from our fragile ocean ecosystems by choosing natural not chemical sunblocks and zincs.”
