What are the health benefits of green tea?

Green tea is largely unprocessed, so it retains its rich antioxidant plant compounds and polyphenols, which have wide-ranging benefits.

Green tea and health

Cognitive benefits:

Green tea’s mild caffeine content offers gentle stimulation, and has traditionally been used to help promote concentration, mental clarity and focus. It is also a source of the amino acid L-theanine which offers an extensive range of health benefits, including nervous system support.

Boosts metabolism:

Thanks to the natural thermogenic properties of caffeine and plant compounds such as catechins, green tea has been extensively studied for its possible effect on metabolic function and potential to support weight loss.

Digestive health:

Evidence is emerging around the effect polyphenols may have on the gut. Most polyphenols are metabolised by the microbiota, in the gut where they exert a prebiotic effect. This means that they help promote the growth of the more beneficial bacteria, and support a healthy microbial balance.

Although more research is needed, studies indicate that there is potential for green tea to help support a wide range of other health conditions including immunity, inflammation and cardiovascular disease.

Does green tea have caffeine?

All teas from the Camellia sinensis plant contain caffeine, including white tea, green tea and black tea. These teas also contain the amino acid L-theanine, which works to moderate the release of caffeine into our system more slowly giving you more of a spike and a drop in energy as your body metabolises it. Caffeine from coffee, on the other hand, is released quickly, giving you a rush and then more of a sudden let down as it wears off. So although both tea and coffee contain caffeine, the way they are received in the body is very different.

Jasmin Pearls

If you want a poetic, luxurious tea experience, look no further than our remarkable Jasmine pearls. Sometimes referred to as Buddha’s tears, Jasmine Pearls are individually hand-rolled to form their unique shape. When infused with water, each pearl slowly unfurls, releasing its distinct flavour. It has soft floral tones of jasmine and a clean, balanced green tea body.

Matcha

Matcha tea has traditionally been enjoyed for its many health benefits, including a mildly uplifting effect. Its caffeine content is slowly released, providing a more consistent release of energy. Unlike most other teas, where the tea leaves are infused, Matcha tea is unique in that it involves the consumption of the complete tea leaf. This superior-grade matcha has an emerald green appearance and a sweet grassy taste, with a delicate and creamy texture.
