Kukicha, also known as twig tea or Bocha tea, is a unique Japanese blend of tea made with leaves, stems, stalks, and twigs. As stems contain less caffeine than leaves, Kukicha generally has a lower caffeine content than that of regular green tea. With few other teas containing stems and twigs, Kukicha has a uniquely delicate, nutty, slightly sweet and vegetal flavour.
Place a heaped teaspoon (2.5 grams) of tea per cup (250ml) into a teapot or infuser, add filtered water at 75ºc-85ºc and allow to infuse for 4 – 5 minutes, strain the tea and serve.
