Today Love Tea is a humble business, run by a small group of dedicated individuals, who strive to offer exceptional tea with purpose.
Love Tea was founded in Melbourne in 2006, by Naturopathy students Emma Watson and Damien Amos. Emma wanted to create beautiful products that were beneficial for customer’s health and promoted wellbeing. Damien was passionate about organics, working with growing communities directly and looking after our planet.
After experimenting with organic teas, aromatic spices and therapeutic herbs for a number of years, Emma and Damien decided to make their tea obsession a full-time project. By 2012, the range included more than 20 different blends, and the business name was changed from Love Chai to Love Tea, to reflect the wide range of products on offer.
Currently at Love Tea, we skilfully craft, blend and pack each of our products in Australia. We collaborate with growers and small scale cooperatives around the world to fairly source organic ingredients. We thoughtfully design each of our unique products, to ensure optimum therapeutic benefit, exceptional flavour and minimal impact on the environment. We hope our tea inspires you to appreciate the quiet moments, take care of your health and share great tea with people you love.
We believe products that are the best for your health are the ones that have no hidden ingredients and no unnecessary additives or flavours. We choose to use high quality, certified organic ingredients, sourced directly from around the world.
In 2011 we were unsure whether we should make our passion project a full time business as we were disheartened by the usual business model which we believed was built on self interest and often to the detriment of the customers, the producers, the planet and often all three.
We came across a number of businesses that were adopting a purpose driven and ethically focussed model that deeply resonated with our own personal beliefs. This was an exciting moment for us and we began to build our own purpose driven tea company based on 3 core values.
Obviously coming from a naturopathy background, we were focused on creating products that enhance wellbeing. From research and our own personal experience, it was imperative that we made products that didn’t contain any flavours, additives and pesticides.
We also placed significant importance on the environmental impact we could have by making a stand and not using products that used these harsh chemicals.
Looking at our social impact, it made sense to us that we would acknowledge all people involved in the process of bringing our products to life. We found that often, the humble growing communities of the ingredients we use were often overlooked. Implementing a Fair Trade Concept into the business helped us strengthen our business as a force for good model.
1% For the Planet
We have been and always will be passionate about the natural environment. Due to our deep love of connecting with nature, as a business, we wanted a way to communicate our commitment to caring for our Mother Earth.
1% For The Planet was a perfect fit for us, as it allowed us to support some of the not for profit organisations who are working towards improving our planet for future generations.
