The Love Tea story – Part one
We recently travelled with our family of five to the hill country in Sri Lanka, to visit the local tea plantations. These plantations are where we source the fairly traded organic ingredients we use in our blends. We were fortunate enough to spend time with some of the growers and their local communities. This trip, more than ever, emphasised the importance of the fairly traded concept and the positive impact it can have on the local community.
We were joined by local photographer Nic Stephens who captured moments of this journey and then created a short film. We wanted to share this with you, so you can see where our ingredients come from and some of the beautiful people and communities who are responsible for growing them. This is the first film we’ve made like this and we are excited to bring you part two next year.
Today Love Tea is a humble business, run by a small group of dedicated individuals, who strive to offer exceptional tea with purpose.
Love Tea was founded in Melbourne in 2006, by Naturopathy students Emma Watson and Damien Amos. Emma wanted to create beautiful products that were beneficial for customer’s health. Damien was passionate about organics, working with tea growers directly to achieve outcomes which were better for the people involved, and the planet at large.
After experimenting with organic teas, aromatic spices and therapeutic herbs for a number of years, Emma and Damien decided to make their tea obsession a full-time project. By 2012, the range included more than 20 different teas, and the business name was changed from Love Chai to Love Tea, to reflect the wide range of products on offer.
We believe products that are the best for your health are the ones that have no hidden ingredients and no unnecessary additives or flavours. We choose to use high quality, certified organic ingredients, sourced directly from around the world.

We fairly source the majority of our ingredients directly from the growing communities and cooperatives who produce them. We pay fair trade premiums for the ingredients purchased from fair trade farms and continually strive to learn more about the challenges that the producers face.
1% For the Planet
We are dedicated to donating 1% of our annual net revenues to a range of environmental organisations worldwide. We feel it is our environmental responsibility to reduce our negative impact on the environment, and we continue to support non for profit environmental organisations who are working towards improving the natural environment.
In July 2016, Love Tea underwent a significant packaging re-brand, with the intention to honour the natural beauty of the botanical ingredients used, and to more clearly communicate the Love Tea story. The range grew to encompass 72 unique teas, including a range of loose leaf blends and biodegradable pyramid tea bag options.
