Royal Mail Hotel

Whether you want to discover food and wine, escape the city, interact with nature or get together with family and friends, the Royal Mail Hotel has the remedy.

The inspiration behind the idea

The Royal Mail Hotel first opened in 1855. The establishment remained the quintessential Australian country pub, where locals gathered and the Cobb & Co coaches dropped off the mail after its journey from England to the colonial outpost. In 1997, a local family purchased the business and undertook a multi-million dollar refurbishment of the property, integrating original parts of the hotel with new buildings. The architectural design brief was to be sympathetic with, and highlight, the beautiful local environment.

Continual improvements and expansions to the hotel have ensured it is a leading Victorian food and wine destination, immersed in the natural surrounds.

What is unique about the Royal Mail Hotel?

The heritage of the Royal Mail Hotel is expressed in its branding by the use of a gothic lettering typeface replicated from a postage stamp, which dates back to the 1800s.

The four furrows lines of their logo represent the furrows of the kitchen garden, the rows of a vineyard, the rugged terrain, and unique golden sunlight of the Grampians. There are four, representing the four pillars of the Royal Mail experience: Food, Wine, People, and Place.
