My best morning routine

Gratitude:

We so often reach for our phones upon waking, but it is worth granting ourselves a moment to come into consciousness and consider a few of the things we are grateful for. 

Mindfulness:

If time allows, a simple 5-minute meditation centres the mind and nervous system, grounding us and making us more resilient in the face of the day ahead. 

Music:

Energising, calming or inspiring, for the time-pressed, music is a simple way to elevate your daily routine. This is the playlist I use to keep my children calm and focused. 

Smiling:

The effects of facial expression on mood are well documented, and this simple technique, smiling briefly into the mirror, has the power to reset a negative mood. 


Movement:

Moving your body early in the day, in whatever sense feels most aligned, is an incredible gift to give yourself and your day. 


Nourishment:

Of course, a healthy breakfast is ideal; however, if you find you lack an appetite in the morning, light options such as seasonal fruit, miso soup, fresh juice or smoothies may be an aligned option.Â
