Adaptogen Tea

“This blend is about restoring resilience and rekindling our own gentle, yet resolute strength in the face of stressors. Life will always present us with stress, but this need not overwhelm.”

Emma Watson – Founder Naturopath

Why did we create Adaptogen Tea?

This blend was designed for those seeking support with their ability to cope with stress.

Our naturopath has carefully selected this blend of organic herbs to support both mind and body to cope with stress. This blend is based on herbs, including withania, Siberian ginseng, schizandra and astragalus, which have traditionally been used to help one adapt to stress by modulating the release of stress hormones and supporting the nervous system.

What is an adaptogen and how do they work?

An adaptogen is a substance that works with one’s body to regulate the effects of stress and fatigue, whether it’s mental, physical or emotional, helping one overcome stress. The mechanism of action is via the hypothalamic-pituitary axis by reducing adrenaline, resulting in normalisation or a decrease in cortisol, which is increased by stress. Adaptogens help to restore balance by interacting with the HPA axis which initiates your body’s stress response, ensuring a return to greater balance.

Adaptogens help keep you closer to a state of homeostasis or balance, either post or during a period of anxiety or chronic stress. They are ideal for someone who feels unable to cope well with the current level of stress in their life. Adaptogens can enhance physical and mental performance, working over a longer period of time, not dropping off sharply like stimulants do, more so tapering off slowly
and gently.

What are the benefits of Adaptogen Tea?

Herbs in this blend have traditionally been used to support endurance, stamina and strength through prolonged periods of physical exertion, fatigue, or exhaustion. Some of the herbs used in this blend have also traditionally been used to support the immune system, which may be depleted as a result of a period of prolonged or intense stress.
